Zach Hrvol gave up one earned run over seven innings while striking out seven in a winning performance Tuesday night at Leon Lane Memorial Field.
The Meridian Hawks managed to scratch across another tally on a throwing error in the third but only managed three hits after the first inning.
“Hrvol pitched another gem,” said Sullivan head coach Troy Rogers. “He had to find it a little bit after the first, but once he locked in, he got on a roll. I thought he was going to get out of that first, but he left a 1-2 pitch up, and the kid smacked it into right field. I told him you have to make him hit one of your pitches in those situations. He did a really good job, and both his changeup and slider were working well.”
