Along with the girls, the SOV boys’ track and field team competed in their final home meet of the year last Wednesday and came away with a fifth place tie with Arcola out of 10 teams.
“One of our goals going into that meet was finishing in the top half of teams, so I guess we kind of met that one, if you list our team first with the tie,” said head coach John Bertetto. “Earlier in the week we had discussed how we finished eighth in the Redskin last year, and we thought we could definitely improve and get in the top half of teams this year. So I was decently happy with where we finished, but I definitely want to see us keep climbing up that team score list.”
Top five finishes included Calen Landrus (fifth, 100m dash, 11.91), Blake Stewart (second, 200m dash, 23.75), JT Bland (third, 1600m run, 4:58.17), Logan Pedigo (third, pole vault, 11-0), and Zane Uphoff (second, long jump, 19-0 and first, triple jump, 40-4).
