Marjory Eileen Gordon, 85, of St. Louis passed away at 4:55 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 in her home in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 2 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Visitation will be held one hour before the services in the funeral home in Sullivan. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan. Marge was born August 4, 1930 in Findlay. She grew up on her parents’ (Clarence and Mary Gordon) farm near Bruce and later moved with her family to Sullivan. She had one brother, Harold, who preceded her in death in 1960. Following her high school graduation, she enrolled in and graduated from Decatur-Macon County Hospital School of Nursing. She subsequently earned a bachelor of science degree from Millikin University and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Colorado. Marge worked 35 years for the Veteran’s Administration at the Denver VA Medical Center and retired from the St. Louis, Mo. VA Medical Center in 1995. She served as the Associate Chief Nurse, Nursing Education and received a number of awards for her contributions to patient care and education at both medical centers. Marge enjoyed the beauties of nature, birds, flowers, plants and fish which found her baited hook. She traveled extensively and was an avid camper. She overcame considerable health issues in her life but succumbed to pancreatic cancer.
