Leon Cochran
G. Leon Cochran, 81, a resident of Trent Woods, N.C. died unexpectedly January 22, 2016 at home after battling a number of health issues.
Born February 22, 1934 in Lovington, he attended the University of Illinois and graduated from Eastern Illinois State University in 1956 with a B.S. in Education.
Leon served in the US Army stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Tex. After his discharge from the army, he began a successful career with General Electric. Hired by the Audio Products department in 1960 in Decatur, Leon was promoted and relocated to Bridgeport, Conn. to work in the housewares division and then promoted and relocated to become a manager of Market Administration for the Advanced Products Operation in Schenectady, N.Y. He was selected to promote in print and media General Electric’s electric lawn mower “Elec-Trak”. He was called back to GE in 1981 to become a facilities manager for the I &SE Department completing a 16 year career.
