The Redskins took a competitive 9-6 loss to open conference play against rival Tuscola March 30.
Tommy Schibur was the starting pitcher for Sullivan but developed an oblique strain in the third inning. The injury forced head coach Troy Rogers to bring in Brett Tuttle for an extended relief appearance. Coach Rogers noted the Redskins had been on a trying stretch schedulewise before the contest.
“We played six games in six days to start the season. We had about a week off before today. That gave us some extra time off which was nice.”
The Warriors drew first blood getting to Schibur for two runs early on. However, Schibur buckled down to get a clutch strikeout with the bases loaded to keep Sullivan in the ball game. The Redskins rallied to take back the lead 3-2 in the top of the third thanks to the long ball. Austin Minnigerode got full extension on a pitch down and took Mr. Spalding out to the deepest part of the ballpark right centerfield.
