Sullivan has seen a lot of changes over the past 10 years, and many of those changes are due to the success of the Historic Façade Grant program that the city developed and adopted in 2006.

The program which at its inception offered businesses a $3000 grant for façade improvements had zero applicants, and so the city amended the plan to grant up to $20,000 in matching funds for any business located in the historic downtown willing to invest in updating the appearance of their property.

By 2013 the program was so successful that when businesses outside of the downtown asked whether they could also participate, the program was revised further to include any business located within a TIF district.     Login or Subscribe to read the rest of this story.
