Mo. Historical Society Annual Dinner

The Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold their annual dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 17 in Friendship Hall at Sullivan First United Methodist Church directly across from the Sullivan Fire Department.
Tickets may be purchased at The Heritage Center at 117 E. Harrison during open hours of noon to 3 p.m. Monday and Saturday afternoons or at Stone and Stone Law Office at 303 E. Harrison St. in Sullivan during business hours. The deadline for dinner reservations is Monday, November 14 during business hours.
The speaker for the evening will be Mark Sorensen of Decatur. He will present “The History of Staley Football: Starchmen to Chicago Bears”.
Focus of the history is how and why a central Illinois starch factory owner would create a national sports team and how the team became one of only two of the original National Football League franchises still in existence.
Sorensen is a former history teacher and is the official Macon County historian. He is also the former Assistant Director of the Illinois State Archives and a past president of the Illinois State Historical Society.
Dues for the coming year may also be paid at the dinner.
