Pictured above is the Moultrie County Courthouse in 1937. The dome was being repaired due to leaks. It had been discussed to remove the dome but ultimately decided to repair it at a cost of $7,429. Leaks continued to haunt the dome into the 1990’s when the decision was made to seal the dome. Some think the dome has a green patina. Not true. It is sealant applied to stop leakage. Everything was covered - even some of the windows. Source: “M.C. Courthouse Centennial Celebration” published by the MCHGS. Please submit photos to the News Progress for future consideration.
