Sullivan motorists were enjoying 89.9 cent per gallon gasoline as the new Sullivan 7-Eleven held its grand opening on S. Hamilton St.
A Lovington woman was ticketed at the intersection of Jackson and Hamilton streets after her vehicle “T-boned” a Chevrolet van driven by Robert E. Best, 60, of Sullivan.
Carol Pratt, 34, of Arthur was unable to avoid striking a horse that had wandered onto Route 133 near CR1700E . Horse owner Enos N. Schrock was attempting to retrieve the horse when the accident occurred.
Rev. J.T. Burns of San Diego, Calif., pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Sullivan in the 1930s and early 40s, visited friends and family. His wife Margaret (Chapin) was daughter of former Moultrie County News publishers Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Chapin.
