When Nancy M. Handegan took over Brad Rau’s law practice in Sullivan, her law practice expanded from a sole attorney operation to a three attorney operation overnight.

Rau’s appointment as resident judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Moultrie County in March put the future of the long-standing firm in flux.

Handegan, who was a law school classmate of Rau’s at the University of Illinois, is primarily involved in estate planning, real estate and farm transactions at her Decatur practice, making the fit into the established Rau practice good for everyone.

“Brad, Doug (Smothers) and I have worked together, and I knew the circumstances and the practice,” Handegan said, noting the addition of the title company was a natural addition.     Login or Subscribe to read the rest of this story.
