Art Club Workshop Saturday
The fourth Sullivan Art Club workshop will be held on 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, October 19. The presenter, artist Becky Marcussin, will lead and guide participants in the use of pastels. Marcussin holds a B.A. and M.A. in studio art from Eastern Illinois University. She has begun her 17th year as an adjunct faculty member at Lake Land College in Mattoon. In addition, she teaches in her studio and at ARC.
Workshop participants will be drawing a still life. Marcussin will provide a pattern and photos, pastel paper, and pastels for all artists to use. Other materials which the artist must supply include tape, tablecloth, paper towels, baby wipes,18 x 24 drawing board. A table top easel is also recommended. If the artist does not have one, Ron Bartanen can give easy directions for making one with a cardboard box. Optional artist tools to bring include soft or medium pastels (no oil pastels), blending stumps, a scrubber brush, rubber tipped shapers, thin latex gloves. As always, participants may work in the medium of choice, but only the pastel supplies will be provided.
The workshop will be held at First United Methodist Church hall at the corner of Jefferson & Hamilton streets. Plenty of parking is available, and materials may be dropped off at the door before parking in the lot. As usual, there will be an hour break for lunch. Attendees may either bring a sack lunch or dine in one of the area restaurants.
