National Skilled Nursing Care Week Activities
•May 9, 2018•
In 1967 the American Health Care Association established National Nursing Home Week to recognize the services and care provided by nursing homes throughout America. The name was recently changed to National Skilled Nursing Care Week, but it will continue the tradition of beginning on Mother’s Day each year.
The theme for this year is “Celebrating Life’s Stories”, and Mason Point cordially invites the public to participate in the week’s activities running May 13-19. Activity Director Leeanna Stickels has planned an exciting program and said, “My favorite part is getting to see the staff and community coming together, devoting an entire week to honoring our senior population and their diversity”.
While many of the programs are just for the residents, the public is welcome to attend all programs at the Knight’s building as well as the tram rides every afternoon at 3:45 from the Collins Building. The programs are:
Monday, May 14 10 a.m. - Celebrating Life Stories with residents and staff sharing stories. 2 p.m. - Chinese cultural performance by Jade Dragon
Tuesday, May 15 2 p.m.- Italian culture and craft with Felicia Parrott of Sunlight Studio.
Wednesday, May 16 2 p.m. - Scovill Mobile Zoo – petting zoo
Thursday, May 17 11 a.m. - Family cookout with Elvis and a car show, 6:30 p.m. Concert on the lawn with the Northenders.
Friday, May 18 2 Michels and Moyer Doggie Show – watch the amazing dogs do tricks.
“As the activity director I enjoy providing a wide range of festivities here on our campus. There is something for everyone to enjoy throughout the week,” Stickels added,
