Between SOV and Clinton, the first half alone saw six turnovers and 12 flags. Fortunately for SOV, the Maroons were unable to capitalize with the exception of a safety, allowing them ample time to finally settle in. And when they did, the Redskins’ offense struck fast while the defense forced several three-and-outs, paving the way to a 41-16 win on senior night.
“It wasn’t very pretty at all in the beginning, which I believe was because we were a little tight because we wanted this game very badly for the seniors,” said head coach Charles Brown. “We were able to stay on course and keep our plan in action throughout the game. In the second quarter, especially, we were able to take advantage of the opportunities presented to us and put the points on the board. Defensively, we were fortunate that we were playing well enough so that Clinton could not take advantage of too many of our mistakes.”
