OVHS Softball Faced a Week of Strong Hitting Teams

The Okaw Valley softball team dropped four straight games this past week.
The Timberwolves lost to Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond Monday, Westville Saturday, Fisher Saturday and Arcola last Tuesday.
In the first game of the doubleheader Saturday, OV lost to Fisher 16-1, after scoring its lone run in the first inning.
Grace Bunfill was 2-for-3 and Bella Benning was 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Madison Vogel suffered the loss. She pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up nine earned runs on 11 hits and six walks. She struck out five.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Westville plated the winning run in the top of the seventh inning for the 3-2 victory.
Vogel homered for one of the Timberwolves’ runs, and Kate Jeffers doubled twice and scored the other OV run.

Miaya Lehman was 2-for-4, and Benning, Bunfill, Kailey George and Paige Coleman each recorded a hit.
Bunfill took the loss, pitching seven innings and giving up three runs on nine hits and no walks. She struck out 12.
Last Tuesday Arcola scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 6-4 lead and win.
Coleman was 4-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI, and Vogel knocked in two runs.
George was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Bunfill had a hit and scored a run.
Bunfill took the loss. She pitched six innings and gave up three earned runs on 10 hits and two walks. She struck out 11.
Monday, the Knights no-hit OV in an 8-0 win. For more information see the ALAH article.
OV’s record is 2-14.
The Timberwolves are set to host Cerro-Gordo/Bement Friday, travel to Sullivan for a doubleheader Saturday and then to Blue Ridge on Monday.
