Notice To Elderly and Disabled for Upcoming General Election
Citizens who are not registered to vote and cannot leave their home or nursing home facility because of a permanent physical disability may arrange for voter registration by contacting the Moultrie County Clerk’s office.
Upon request a list of deputy registrars will be given to anyone unable to come into the County Clerk’s office. Anyone may register at the County Clerk’s office, Moultrie County Courthouse at 10 S. Main in Sullivan from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last day to register to vote before the upcoming election is Tuesday, February 18 (with the exception of grace period registrations and transfers between February 19 to March 15). Requirements for registration are: 1. Be a U.S. Citizen; 2. Be a resident of your precinct 30 days prior to election day; 3. Have two forms of identification, one showing registrant’s current address; 4. Be 18 years of age by election day.
All polling locations in Moultrie County are accessible to persons with disabilities or the elderly. Voting aids and assistance are available, if needed, in marking the ballot. Those unable or who do not wish to go to the polls on election day may vote absentee. An excuse to vote absentee is not needed. This may be done in the office of the County Clerk or by mail. The last day an absentee ballot may be mailed out is Thursday, March 13. The last day to vote absentee in person at the County Clerk’s office is March 17.
