Lake Shelbyville Fish Habitat Improvement Day
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will place donated Christmas trees and artificial porcupine structures into Lake Shelbyville to enhance the fisheries for years to come. Volunteers are needed March 8 to help bundle and place the trees in the lake. To volunteer, meet at the Lithia Springs Recreation Area boat ramp parking lot at 9 a.m. A free lunch will be provided after the work is completed. All participants on fish habitat day will receive aerial maps with coordinates detailing where the trees were placed for later fishing reference. Maps will not be supplied to the general public, so those wishing one, should attend on fish habitat improvement day.
