City Council Approves Pay Estimates and Change Order for Water Treatment Plant Project

The Sullivan City Council met Monday, October 10, and approved two pay estimates for the water treatment plant project and one change order. In new and unfinished business the agenda listed two items, but the item on Medicare Supplement and Prescription Drug Plan was tabled. The first pay estimate in the consent agenda was for $292,410 to Grunloh Construction Inc. Commissioner Chuck Woodworth was absent from the meeting.
The second pay estimate was for $154,068.93 to Grunloh Building, Inc. The change order was from Grunloh Building, Inc. for the water treatment project for a decrease of $58,615.13. The consent agenda was approved,
Verna and Roger Tice have a property on the west side of the square at 11 South Main. When Ms. Tice watched the City Council meeting, she was surprised to hear of the proposal to no longer allow residences on the first floor on the square. Tice said that at the last council meeting, it was said that the first floor was needed for businesses but noted she and her husband had only been approached once by someone wanting to establish a business.
