Sullivan opened their 1966 football season against their traditional Rival Shelbyville. Although the Redskins, under Coach Bob Calvin, had won six out of the last nine openers, it looked like a tough assignment this season. Coach Calvin is also starting his tenth year as Sullivan Head Coach this year.

Bethany football welcomed new coach Ken Huckstep. He had seven regulars among the 11 lettermen he inherited. Leading the team this year was Dick Martin.

Fifteen year old Joey Thompson won the Sullivan Country Club Golf title with a 7 and 6 victory over Bill Edwards.
