The weather has been beautiful this fall. Warmer temperatures, not a lot of rain—though some is needed, and an extended football season. The temperature dropped a little last Saturday which made it feel all the more like fall football. The Sullivan Redskins received a four seed in the Class A IHSA playoffs. That gave them an opening round bye as they awaited the eventual winner: the Havana Ducks.
The Ducks arrived in Sullivan on the shoulders of junior Jack Turner. Turner is their dual threat quarterback, their kicker, the punter, and an imposing defensive back. Sullivan knew in order to be victorious, they would have to do their best to prevail against the Turner-led Ducks.
First Quarter
The action started immediately in the first quarter. The Ducks received the ball to start the game, and it appeared Sullivan had done their due diligence with watching game film. They stopped the first two runs and then excellent pass coverage forced Havana to punt on fourth down.
