Moultrie Independent Telephone Company recently awarded Aaron Fleming, a junior at Millikin University and a 2012 graduate of Lovington High School, a $1,500 academic scholarship funded by the Fund for Rural Education and Development, or FRED, which is a national charitable foundation located in Washington, D.C.

To receive a FRED scholarship, an applicant must be a graduating high school senior or undergraduate student with at least a 3.3 GPA and be nominated by a FRED member telecommunications company. The FRED organization seeks to reward academic achievement and leadership in school and community activities in young people across rural America.
