In all but one of the five contested races Tuesday incumbents were all re-elected according to unofficial final tallies. Moultrie county clerk Georgia England says that final results will not be available until a canvass is completed on April 21, which will include any provisional and absentee votes remaining. However, England said she does not imagine the canvass to result in any change in the unofficial results. Overall voter turnout came in at just 15.76 percent, which the clerk described as low compared to previous consolidated elections. Read More
Fundraiser for the Moultrie County Food Pantry April 24
by Ariana Cherry

Golfers at the Sullivan Country Club won’t be “puttering around” when it comes to donating food for the Moultrie County Food Pantry later this month. In fact, they will be having their own kind of drive–one that will be aiming for more than just a hole-in-one or under-par as the community will have a chance to enjoy a few rounds of golf while helping donate to a good cause.
“This has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” said the Sullivan Country Club golf pro Andy Wagner. “I know from personal experiences that there are a lot of unexpected things in life and things get tough so I thought what a great opportunity to help the food pantry so they can help others who are in need. Our community really stands together and helps when called upon. Both the Country Club and I feel this is a way for us to contribute.” Read More

Zach Hrvol gave up one earned run over seven innings while striking out seven in a winning performance Tuesday night at Leon Lane Memorial Field.
The Meridian Hawks managed to scratch across another tally on a throwing error in the third but only managed three hits after the first inning.
“Hrvol pitched another gem,” said Sullivan head coach Troy Rogers. “He had to find it a little bit after the first, but once he locked in, he got on a roll. I thought he was going to get out of that first, but he left a 1-2 pitch up, and the kid smacked it into right field. I told him you have to make him hit one of your pitches in those situations. He did a really good job, and both his changeup and slider were working well.” Read More

Many have heard the saying, “turning something old, into something new” or “somebody else’s trash, is another person’s treasure.” Darby Harden, owner of Gypsy Soul Revival in Sullivan did something similar with her latest clothing line, “The Wanderlust Collection” by literally turning vintage pieces into an intricate meaningful fashion line for women to treasure for years to come.
“I love things that have a history, that would normally get discarded and that need to be reused,” she said. “I have handcrafted each piece in the Wanderlust Collection using select vintage linens, lace, fabric, and trims. No two items in the collection are the same.”
Harden may have found the perfect “niche” as there is already an interest in antiques and handcrafted items within the area. But in order to stand out amongst the rest, though, it is important for items to have something special and unique. Read More
