A short-lived men’s softball team, the Sullivan Chiefs, was inducted into the Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame.
Competing in the annual Arthur Invite, the host’s girls finished second and the boys third, while SOV’s boys took 11th.
The students represented in the 2014-2015 Cultivating Creativity: Consolidated Communications Children’s Art Exhibition were recognized for their achievement at an awards reception. Local students recognized included Taylor Brown of Windsor Elementary School; Maria Garza of Arthur Junior High School; Cheyenne Hardin of Windsor Junior/Senior High School; Logan Kauff man of Arthur-Lovington High School; Marlene Otto of Arthur Grade School; Jewel Smith of Okaw Valley Middle School and Emily Walker of Okaw Valley High School.

Emotional goodbye from colleagues, on to next chapter

On Friday, April 11th, Sullivan Fire Department’s Firefighter/Medic Daniel Boyer’s colleagues, friends, and family held a retirement party for him at the Sullivan Fire Department. The party was opened with prayer and the pledge of allegiance, and colleagues wished him the best in his next chapter of life after twenty years of faithful service. All extended heart-felt gratitude for his loyal service to the community, his loyalty and leadership within the fire department, and the sacrifices he made. Boyer could always be counted on to bring 100% for every shift, often working late and covering shifts. The formal ceremony ended with the presentation of an honorary plaque, the flag that flew over the fire station on his last day of service, and a traditional fire hat, ending with a radio “final call.” Afterwards, Boyer walked a procession line and individually thanked his colleagues with a handshake and a bear hug.

From convincing government leaders to fund Lake Shelbyville to pulling parking meters off the square the morning after his election, Bo’s story is one of bold leadership, persistence, and community-first action.

Easter Sunrise Service

Stations of the Cross Walk

Wyman Park Easter egg hunt

Sullivan’s First United Methodist Church is hosting an Easter egg hunt at Wyman Park for the community on Friday, April 18th at 4:30 p.m. for children aged birth-12 years and for those with special needs of all ages. There will also be an opportunity to have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny, who will be present for the event. The egg hunt begins at 4:30 p.m.
