Lake Land College recently recognized Emergency Medical Services (EMS) graduates at an annual pinning ceremony. During the event, several students received awards for their outstanding performance in the program. The Perseverance Award was presented to Curtis Robinson, Bethany, for overcoming obstacles to succeed in the program.

The Sullivan Redskins had five days off following their last game, a loss to Monticello. That was just enough days of practice and rest to get themselves prepared for the Dieterich Holiday Tournament. Play began the day after Christmas and continued through Saturday.

The Sullivan City Council wrapped up its 2024 meeting schedule by approving annexing some property and revising some city codes. The council opened the meeting with a public hearing on a plan to annex Windmill Legacy Farms, south of the city, on South Hamilton Street west side of the road.
Kennady Wilson, from Bethany, made the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Dean’s List for the 2024 fall semester.
The Lady Redskins won again on Monday night. This time it was a win over Cerro Gordo, 53-16. They even did it without a single three-pointer. Yet, they had three girls with double digits for points.

SBD had their home meet, the “Christmas Jingle Invitational”, on December 14th. The Dolphins hosted the BNSC swim team. This meet was a great showing for the new Dolphins on the team. High point winners were:
8 & U girls 1st place Stella Perrott, 2nd Tinley Eads, and 3rd Lucy Brettschneider. 8 & U boys 1st William Kauffman, 2nd place Sam Richter, and 3rd place Waylon Atchison. 9-10 girls, 2nd place Emme Kirkley. 9-10 boys, 2nd place Oliver Florey. 11-12 girls, 1st place Avery Hess and 2nd place Michaela Blickensderfer. 11-12 boys, 1st place Mack Pogue, 2nd place Jack Van Uytven, and 3rd place Harlan Bennett. 13-14 boys, 1st place Jace Van Uytven. The Peace Meal Senior Nutrition program lunch is served weekdays (except holidays) at 11:30 a.m. Call (217) 728-8521 for more information on the events below or the Peace Meal. New this month: The last Friday of the month at 12:30 p.m., there will be popcorn and movie. Movie titles will vary each month. Ask at the front desk for the “Movie of the month.” Doors to the center are open Monday through Friday, and it’s warm inside. There is always free hot coffee, hot chocolate, and hot tea for those cold winter days.
