Clayton Makes the Dean’s List

Dakota Clayton, from Sullivan, was among the students from Lakeview College of Nursing who made the spring Dean’s List. Students who are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Lakeview College of Nursing and who achieve a GPA of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale are named to the Dean’s List for the semester. Lakeview College of Nursing offers a bachelor of science in nursing degree. It is a single-purpose, private institution that has specialized in nursing education in the Danville Area since 1894. Lakeview began offering its program in Charleston in the fall of 2001.

HSHS Hospice Illinois invites community members to join them for a butterfly release ceremony at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital on Wednesday, May 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the Cancer Center Healing Garden.

Collins Retires from Sullivan Fire
Adam Collins (center) was recently recognized for dedicating over 21 years to being a member of the Sullivan Fire Protection District. He started with SFPD on November 5, 2001 and served until he retired on December 1, 2022. Adam has dedicated most of his adult life to serving the citizens of Sullivan. MCHGS Grand Opening
The Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society held a grand opening at their museum on Thursday, May 4. The exhibit is called "The Auschwitz Experience In The Art Of Prisoners." The society partnered with the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation to bring the special exhibit to Moultrie County. The exhibition features artwork by 12 survivors who documented their experiences in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. The 24 panel exhibit consists of 60 pieces that depict the experiences the survivors had during the Holocaust. The exhibit has never before been exhibited outside of Europe and is on loan from the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, Oswecim, Poland. Pictured (from left to right): Rebecca Lawson, Natalee Hunter, Museum Director Pam Wood and Holocaust Education Center of the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation Co-Director Robert Lehmann. During the grand opening, student Natalee Hunter shared her two film projects, each of which documented Holocaust survivors and their stories. Lehmann spoke about the Auschwitz Concentration Camp showing historical and more recent photos of the structures inside the camp.

SHS Girls Track Team Finishes Fourth

The SHS Girls Track Team had a very successful CIC meet on Thursday, May 4 hosted by Central A & M. They won 5 events and had 6 athletes that received All Conference Accolades for the first time in over 15 years. As a team they finished in 4th place with 115 points, losing to the defending State Champions of Tuscola and a very talented group of ladies from Shelbyville. First place finishes went to Cassidy Short in the Long Jump, Izzy Hay in the Triple Jump, Kharli Kelly in the High Jump, and the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays of Madalyn Booker, Cassidy Short, Alaina Moore, and Jalexis Bennett. They had a lot of double points come from our younger athletes, as it is a bright future for our Girls Track Team. The team will finish up their season in Bethany on Thursday at the OV Sectional. SHS Girls Track Finishes First at Redskin Invite

SHS Girls Track finished in 1st place with 134 points at the 10 Team Redskin Invite Monday, May 1. They had some outstanding performances to finish off their regular season heading into Conference on Thursday, May 4. Riane Bear finished 1st in the High Jump, along with Izzy Hay picking up wins in the Triple Jump and 100 Hurdles. Sofia Nuzzo also won the Pole Vault, while the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays of Madalyn Booker, Cassidy Short, Alaina Moore, and Jalexis Bennett dominated the field picking up two more wins.
