Bethany: BASO Main Street Trick or Treat Saturday, Oct 30 4 pm to 6 pm and trick or treat 6 pm to 9 pm.
Findlay: trick or treat Saturday, Oct. 30 6 pm-8 pm and American Legion Auxiliary Halloween Supper Friday, October 29. Ladies Auxiliary serving food from 5 pm to 7 pm, Costume judging starts at 7 pm.
Gays: trick or treat Sunday, Oct. 31 6 pm-8 pm
Lovington: Safe trick or treat Friday, Oct 29 4-5:30 pm, costume judging at Grade School. Trick or Treat hours 4 pm-8 pm
Sullivan: Safe trick or treat October 29 4 pm to 6 pm, AMBUCS Halloween parade around the square Oct 29 at 6:30 pm. Trick or Treat October 29 and 30 6 pm-9pm.
Windsor: Trunk or Treat at the park Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 5 pm-7pm, Trick or Treat Oct 29 6 pm to 8 pm. American Legion Parade and soup supper Oct 31, parade starts at 6:30 pm at library, judging at Legion at 7 pm

25 Years Ago This Week

Zak Horn was a finalist for the national FFA award. He was also named one of ten national winners in the National FFA Agri-Entrepreneurship awards program, which recognizes FFA members who start their own agribusiness. For this award, Horn received $1,000 and the Sullivan FFA chapter received $500. He was informed that his turf-grass management project had been selected as one of the top four in the nation. Other top projects were from students who were state winners in California, Wisconsin and Missouri. Read More

The Okaw Valley High School Student Council operated a haunted house on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16. There was a time that was kid friendly and a time for the scarier form of the haunted house.

Sullivan Sports Briefs

Sullivan Volleyball
After rattling off wins in 4-of-5 matches, Sullivan’s volleyball team stumbled in its next three matches.
In its last two matches, Sullivan lost a Central Illinois Conference match and a non-conference match.
The Redskins dropped a match to St. Teresa and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg this past week.
In a Central Illinois Conference match up on the road against St. Teresa, the Bulldogs dropped Sullivan in straight sets last Thursday.
St. Teresa won the first set 25-9 but had a harder time winning the second set at 25-21.
For the Redskins, Landry Hall had four kills, while Tessa Seeley and Maddie Probus each had three. Read More

Nowlin Receives Nursing Scholarship

Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville and Charleston, announced numerous scholarship awards for the Fall 2021 semester.
Hannah Nowlin, of Atwood, received the Carroll and Luise Snyder Scholarship Fund Scholarship. Nowlin attends Lakeview’s Charleston campus.
Lakeview College of Nursing Scholarships are made possible by generous donations to the College’s scholarship endowment fund. Scholarships are awarded based upon criteria established by the donor as well as the financial need and/or academic merit of each applicant.
Lakeview College of Nursing offers a bachelor of science in nursing degree. It is a single-purpose, private institution that has specialized in nursing education in the Danville, IL area since 1894. Lakeview began offering the program in Charleston, IL, in the fall of 2001.

Marsha Kirby Newest Mo. Co. Board Member

Marsha Kirby had her first meeting as a county board member last Thursday. Kirby replaces Neil Bryan. She is currently serving the remainder of his term with the board.
Kirby is in her 15th year at Sullivan High School where she teaches US history. She is also the advisor for Student Council and co-sponsor of Future Educators. In the community she is involved in the Miss Sullivan pageants, Sullivan Singers booster club president and has been a volunteer cheer coach for JFL. Read More

The Kirby Foods meat department delivered hams to the Moultrie County Food Pantry on Wednesday the 16th, thanks to a generous anonymous donation. The hams will provide a nice Easter dinner.
