SOV Defeats Meridian 26-0

SOV Defeats Meridian 26-0
The Sullivan-Okaw Valley Redskins defeated the Meridian Hawks on Friday, September 23 with a score of 26-0. SOV started quickly as they returned the opening kickoff with a touchdown. They added two more touchdowns in the first quarter making the score 18 to 0. SOV scored another touchdown and 2 point conversion in the fourth quarter.
SOV improved to 4 in 1 overall and 2 in 1 in CIC conference. This Friday, they will play St. Teresa at home for Sullivan’s Homecoming.

The Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation (IRTAF) awards $36,500 in grant money to several public school educators (Pre-K through 12) statewide. IRTAF is affiliated with the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, a lobbying group for retired educators, with a current membership of over 40,000. On September 20, 2022, Patricia King was awarded her IRTAF grant check. Read More

Lovington Resident Dies After Dispute

Tina Clark, 42, of Hesperia, Mich., formerly of Bethany, passed away in her home with her fiancée by her side on August 23, 2022.

Landmark torn down



News Progress


The home at the intersection of Route 133 and Route 32 in Lovington was torn down last week. The house had become a major hazard after a box truck struck it, taking out a large portion of the north wall. The owners had the home demolished after it was deemed a public safety issue.
