The Okaw Valley girls’ and boys’ golf teams competed in separate meets Thursday, Aug. 19.
The boys’ team played in a triangular against Villa Grove and Windsor Stewardson Strasburg.
The Timberwolves won the meet with the low score of 189. Villa Grove followed with 235, and WSS finished with 249. Read More

C.E.F.S. Announces the Start of the Energy Assistance Program

The C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation, as administrator of the Home Energy Assistance Program in Christian, Clay, Effingham, Fayette, Montgomery, Moultrie, and Shelby counties, is pleased to announce that funds are available to assist income-eligible households with their natural gas, propane and electric bills and furnace assistance.
The program will begin September 1, 2021, for all income-eligible households. Applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis through May 31, 2022. There will be no priority groups this program year. Households in need are encouraged to apply. Read More

Windsor Harvest Picnic 2021

12th Annual Harvest Run 5K
The 12th Annual Harvest Run 5K was held early on Saturday in Windsor. There were 42 participants. The first finisher was Derek Decker, he was also the top male finisher. Amanda Gordon was the top female finisher. Pictured are some of the medal winners from the run. The run was sponsored by the Class of 2022.

Macon County Man Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

Braxton E. Wilder, 25, Decatur has been sentenced to six years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections. At a hearing on August 20, 2021, Judge Jeremy Richey accepted a plea in which Wilder pled guilty to the offense of: Robbery, a Class 2 Felony, Moultrie County case 20-CF-48. Read More

Buck Retires After Over 40 Years of Volunteer Fire and EMS Service

Robert Buck, 78, of Findlay, celebrated his retirement after 40+ years of service as a firefighter at the Findlay American Legion. He is pictured with several plaques and a house resolution that was presented to him by State Representative Brad Halbrook.

Robert Buck, 78, of Findlay celebrated his retirement from the fire service on Saturday at the Findlay American Legion. The day was made even more special with a visit from State Representative Brad Halbrook who presented a resolution from the Illinois House of Representatives in recognition of Buck’s years of service.
Buck began his service with the Shelby Fire District in 1980 and became in EMT in 1984 and worked on the Township Aid Ambulance for the Iroquois Memorial Hospital. He later became an EMT Intermediate and Firefighter 2. Buck served as the President of the Eastern Illinois Regional Fire Aid from 1988-1992. Read More

The Kirby Foods meat department delivered hams to the Moultrie County Food Pantry on Wednesday the 16th, thanks to a generous anonymous donation. The hams will provide a nice Easter dinner.
