Last week representatives for the Tabeling Development, Sullivan Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development and a business owner gathered at the site of the project to check on its progress. According to Austin Tabeling operations manager for the Tabeling Development, they are currently accepting rental applications for 2 and 3-bedroom units for January 2023. One of Adam Brown’s most painful financial decisions was selling the first tractor his father rode.
“While that was a difficult and emotional step to take, the survival of my farm for the next generation is my top priority, just like it was for the generation that passed it on to me,” Brown told federal lawmakers July 14, his voice cracking.
But trading the 1950 Ford Ferguson T20 for cash was not enough.
“I still needed some help to keep things running and the loan programs that were available for young, beginning and underserved producers came through for me in one of the most difficult and stressful times of my life,” he said. Read More
Golf Outing

Lake Land College’s Laker Athletics will host its annual golf outing fundraiser on Sunday, August 14 at Meadowview Golf Course in Mattoon, Illinois.
Registration and lunch will begin at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
The two-person scramble will include the green fee, cart fee, lunch and giveaway for a total of $75 per person. Read More

The car show in Dalton City this past Sunday is called an all wheel extravaganza and they mean it. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors and even a Hot Wheels Cadillac could be seen on display. Pictured are a 2016 Hot Wheels Cadillac and a 2000 Harley Softtail motorcycle.

Governor Pritzker Issues Monkeypox Virus Public Health Emergency Declaration to Coordinate Statewide Response

Governor Pritzker issued a proclamation on Monday declaring the monkeypox virus a public health emergency and declaring the state of Illinois a disaster area regarding the disease. The declaration, which applies to the entire state, will allow the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to utilize resources for coordinating logistics across state agencies, quickly and efficiently aid in the distribution of vaccines and in the prevention and treatment of the disease. The proclamation will also assist state agencies in coordinating response with the federal government. Read More
