Summer Reading Kickoff Party
The Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library held their summer reading kickoff party on Friday, May 28. There were 2 inflatables, snowcones and kids could sign up for the summer reading program while they were there. This year’s theme is “Reading Colors Your World.” For more information on summer reading visit the circulation desk at the library. Community Blood Drive

The community of Cadwell will host a blood drive on Tuesday, June 15 from 3 to 7 pm at M&E Woodcrafts,1533 CR 1900N in Cadwell. To donate, contact ImpactLife Urbana at (800) 747-5401 or visit www.bloodcenter.org and use code 70636 to locate the drive. Masks and appointments are required. Donors who last gave blood on or before April 20, 2021 are eligible to give at this drive.

LLC Nursing Graduates Honored in Pinning Ceremony

The Lake Land College Nursing associate degree graduates were honored at a pinning ceremony in front of the Luther Student Center May 12. Each of the 70 graduates received a nursing pin and a keepsake card.

Harvest Picnic 5k Run

The Windsor High School Class of 2022 is sponsoring this year’s Harvest Picnic 5k Run on Saturday, August 21 to raise money for their senior class trip. United States Flag Facts and Handling Etiquette

The United States flag was first imagined after the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The Continental Congress authorized creation of the first national flag on June 14, 1777. It was decided that the flag should have 13 stripes, alternating red and white, to represent the original 13 colonies, and that the new union be represented by 13 white stars in a blue field to signify a “new constellation.” Francis Hopkinson, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, is most often credited with the original design. Area Cancer Care Providers Celebrate Cancer Survivors on National Cancer Survivors Day

Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois, Decatur Memorial Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital will once again join together and celebrate our local cancer survivors. National Cancer Survivors Day is an annual celebration that honors cancer survivors whether recently diagnosed or in remission for years.
We encourage cancer survivors and caregivers to join us at Richland Community College on Saturday, June 5 from 9 – 11 a.m. for a drive-through celebration of our wonderful survivors. Read More

Arthur Hoffman

Arthur “Kent” Hoffman, 74, of Mesa, Arizona passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on May 30, 2021.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Sondra; sons Chris (Stacey) and Van; sisters, Iris Buxton of Petersburg, IL and Linda Roach of Sun City West, AZ, many nieces and nephews and the loves of his life, his grandkids: Braedan, Gavin and Ava.
Funeral services are pending.
