The University of Illinois Extension, in cooperating partnership with Decatur Catholic Charities and Sullivan United Methodist Church will be holding a mobile food pantry on Wednesday, June 22 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm at Sullivan United Methodist Church, 216 W. Jefferson in Sullivan (across from the firehouse). A mobile food pantry delivers a 2 week supply of food per family in rural communities. Any individual or family that does not have a steady food supply qualifies to receive food. No financial information is required to qualify. This distribution is open to all, not only residents of Sullivan. Sign up by Wednesday, June 15 call the church at 217-728-4436 between 8 am and 1 pm or 217-855-3933 or Mid Illinois Senior Services, Inc. at 800-736-4675 between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm. Once your form is completed by phone, you will be given a number to bring with you on the day of distribution. If you lose your number, you need to bring identification. Food will be distributed according to your household size on June 22 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Methodist Church in parking lot across the street.

Kids look forward to summer vacation every year. The last day of school gives way to less structured days when kids can spend more time outdoors and less time cracking the books.
Summer vacation can be a dilemma for parents, especially in households where both parents work full-time. A pandemic-related increase in remote working has made that problem somewhat more manageable, but even parents working from home must find fun way for kids to stay occupied until the new school year begins. Outdoor movie nights can be a great way to spend warm evenings with friends and loved ones. The guest list is only limited by the seating you have, and even then, movie watchers easily can sit on picnic blankets, making it simple to host a crowd.
Movie nights outdoors may be different than those in a theater or living room, but certain must-have items are no less important. No movie night under the stars is complete without these essentials.

A screen and a way to project the movie are must-haves for any outdoor movie night. Projectors should be small enough that they can be carried outside, but large enough to emit enough light to fill the screen. Options range anywhere from $400 and up for quality projectors. Read More

My friend Peter Page builds high-rises. He knows that if he were to put a beam in the wrong place, the whole thing could come down.
In a much less dramatic, costly and dangerous way, a misplaced word in a sentence can make the whole thing collapse.
I’m not talking about splitting infinitives, which has been downgraded from a mortal sin to a venial one in recent years. I’m talking about misplaced modifiers and dangling modifiers.
Yes, I’ve discussed both before, but given the number of examples I see, some of us still aren’t getting it.

25 Years Ago This Week
Luke Standerfer and Nick Parks went to state in track and came out successful. Standerfer captured a state title in the 3200 and Parks claimed second in the same event.
D&D Liquidation, a new business in Sullivan, scheduled a grand opening. Dave Eckel was owner of the store. The store sold products that were overstocked or discontinued by companies and retailers. They also bought products from bankrupt companies at a reduced price. The store dealt in everything from electronics to office supplies to residential furniture to Beanie Babies.
The Edwards family, John, Karen, Clint and Ben got their kicks two nights a week on the mat of a local Taekwondo Club. All four family members have earned their black belts. The family started at the lowest level, which is a white belt, and worked their way up through the ranks to the ninth level which is the black belt. Read More
