All Conference Volleyball Teams for Lincoln Prairie

The Lincoln Prairie Conference and the Central Illinois Conference announced all-conference volleyball teams this week.
In its inaugural year, the LPC unanimously voted Okaw Valley hitter Kate Jeffers to the first team.
OV senior Paige Coleman and Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond junior Mackenzi Bowles earned second team honors.
Okaw Valley finished 23-11, and ALAH finished 12-24.
In the CIC, Sullivan senior Avery Still received honorable mention honors.

ALAH Knights Pursue Turnaround Season

Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond boy’s basketball coach Brad McGill expects a turnaround season from last year.
How big of a turnaround is yet to be determined.
“The players are well aware of the season we had last year and are excited to change the results,” McGill said. “They have had a great attitude, bought in to what we are doing and are excited to do some very good things this season.”
Last season, McGill’s first year as Knights’ head coach, the team finished with a 3-22 overall record and 1-6 record in the Little Okaw Valley Conference.
The Knights lost their last four games, including a first-round loss to Broadlands in the Heritage Regional. Read More

Moultrie County Quadrennial Year Assessed by Vanguard Appraisals

As CCAO Lori Barringer’s role is to make sure that the value of residential, commercial and industrial properties is at 33.33% of Fair Market Value.
Market value is set by those who purchased property over the past 3 years.
Therefore, 2019 values are based on 2016, 2017 & 2018 sales.
What if property doesn’t sell; how do I determine values? The Replacement Cost New, minus depreciation, plus land values.
“We do this by utilizing a mass appraisal system (Vanguard)” Barringer explained.
Moultrie County has been using Vanguard since 2011 for Commercial & Industrial Properties. Read More

Lake Land College Seeks Award Nominations

Lake Land College is accepting nominations for the Distinguished Service Award, Alumnus Achievement Award and Retiree Wall of Fame Award to be announced in spring 2020.
The Distinguished Service Award and the Alumnus Achievement Award will be presented at the college’s 2020 Commencement ceremony and the Retiree Wall of Fame recipients will be announced during a ceremony on campus in the spring. Read More

Night Christmas Parade Dec. 13

The Sullivan Christmas Parade is at night this year with coordinator Jeri Davis urging participants to light up Sullivan on Friday, Dec. 13.
Organizations or individuals who are up to the challenge of creating a spectacular entry may contact Davis at 217/273-9456.
Entries should gather at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Sullivan High School parking lot. Parade will kick off at 6:00 p.m.
Davis explained a three judge panel with award prizes for the Best Use of Red and Green; People Choice and Judges Choice.
The Christmas parade grand marshal will be escorted in the parade by mule drawn carriage.

Theresa Ann Davis, 62, of Lovington, passed away at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Eastview Terrace, Sullivan.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Lovington. Visitation was an hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home. Sullivan Girls Team Sweeps Maroa Forsyth Tip Off Classic

To win another regional championship and make a deep run into the IHSA playoffs, Sullivan girls’ basketball coach Sheri McCain has her players focused on each step of the process during the long season.
The first step for the regular season schedule was to win the 2nd Annual Maroa-Forsyth Tip-off Classic by sweeping all three games.
Sullivan did just that.
The Redskins won their first game of the season 35-14 against host Maroa-Forsyth. Read More
