All-Conference Honors for Sullivan Golfer

Sullivan girls’ golfer Erin Wallace shot a 108 for fifth place to earn all-conference honors at Moweaqua Golf Course last Tuesday.
The Redskins shot a team score of 473 for third place.
Alyssa Shriver shot a 111 for eight place, and Morgan Moll scored a 126 for 15th place.
Miriah Booker scored a 128 for 16th place, and Abby Kirkwood-Ray and Lara Herschberger shot a 135 and 139, respectively.
Sullivan is scheduled to enter the regional action host by Okaw Valley Thursday (10th) at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Findlay.

Sullivan Volleyball Team Knocks off Neoga

The Sullivan volleyball team split a pair of matches this past week.
The Redskins defeated Neoga but lost to Clinton.
Monday night in a nonconference matchup at home, the Redskins knocked off the Indians in three sets, 24-26, 25-19, and 25-22.
Avery Still led the team with 14 kills and three blocks, and senior Gwen Diepholz had nine kills and seven digs.
Raegen Sims and Zoe Walton each had five kills and junior, Jerra Goad had eight digs.
Lilly Null led the team with 12 digs, and Emily White had 32 assists.
At home Thursday (3rd), Sullivan lost to Clinton in straight sets 25-21 and 25-11.
Avery Still had three kills and a block, and Diepholz tallied six kills and six digs.
White dished out 10 assists, while Null had five digs.
Sullivan is scheduled to host Central A&M Thursday (10th), then host Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.

On Monday, teachers from Sullivan Schools attended the Small and Rural Teachers Networking Night at Eastern Illinois University.
This event was designed to foster interactions between area schools and college students preparing to enter the field of education.

Suicide Prevention Helped by Hydro-Gear Raffle

Recently a Raffle Extravaganza was held at Hydro-Gear, Sullivan. This raffle was organized as a fundraiser for Team: Karry-on-for-Kass, Kankakee Out of the Darkness Walk, sponsored by, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
Cindy Wieferich works for Hydro-Gear and was grateful for the Sullivan plant’s support by raising $2,260 toward suicide prevention.
“My daughter Kassie, lost her battle with mental illness and ended her life, she was just 21,” Weiferch said.
“When I moved to the Sullivan area two years ago I was hesitant to talk about Kassie, I was afraid I would be judged as a mother, and I took a backseat to advocating suicide awareness.” Read More

Shred Day & Food Drive

CF&H Insurance, First Community Bank of Moultrie County & Sullivan Chamber & Economic Development would like to help you get your documents shredded locally. Shred-It will be providing an on-site shred truck during Oktoberfest from 9:00 am – Noon located in front of First Community Bank of Moultrie County to properly dispose of your documents.
Simply bring the items you need to have shredded to the location listed above along with a non-perishable item or paper product for the local food pantry, and we will have your documents properly destroyed.
You can even watch your items get shredded. Please do not bring items before the actual shred date.
We’re glad to help everyone in the community get their documents “cleaned up” and, at the same time, help our local food pantry get “stocked up.” We look forward to seeing you on October 19th.

City Wide Power Outage

The City of Sullivan Electric Department will perform a city-wide outage, weather permitting, starting at midnight Saturday, October 26, 2019 for upgrades to the substation. The outage is estimated to last approximately 4 hours or until the project is completed.
Residents are welcome to sign up for E-Notify on the City of Sullivan website to receive future notifications from the City.

Sullivan Boys’ Golf Team Wins Regional Championship

The Sullivan boys’ golf team is on a roll.
After finishing the season 26-0, the Redskins won the Central Illinois Conference meet for the third year in a row last Tuesday,
Sullivan followed that with a regional championship Monday.
To advance to the sectional meet, the Redskins won the Class A Okaw Valley Regional golf meet at Eagle Creek Golf Course with a score of 348. Read More

The Sullivan-Okaw Valley football team dropped its Homecoming game against Tuscola 56-13 Friday night.
The Warriors scored first on a 49-yard run with 9:54 left in the opening period to take a 7-0 lead.
The Redskins tied the scored at seven with 5:05 left to play in the first quarter when Dillon Wallace punched in a 1-yard run.
From there, Tuscola rattled off the next 49 points.
Late in the fourth quarter, Luke Vanderburgh scored on a 1-yard run for SOV’s last six points.
SOV is scheduled to travel to Decatur on Friday to take on St. Teresa at 7 p.m.[/s2If]

ALAH Volleyball Drops Two in Heritage

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond volleyball team dropped its first two matches in the inaugural Lincoln Prairie Conference Tournament at Heritage Monday night.
In pool play, the Knights lost to Cumberland 25-21, 25-19 and to host Heritage 25-13, 25-23.
Against Cumberland, Mackenzi Bowles led the team with nine kills to go with three kills.
Michaela Powell contributed two aces and 10 digs, while Alisha Frederick tallied six digs, two kills and two aces. Read More

Sign collision at Agri-Fab

In the late afternoon of Saturday, May 31st, there was a single-vehicle accident, with the vehicle making contact with the Sullivan Agri-Fab factory signage located at the factory frontage on Hamilton Street. Per Sullivan Police Department’s Chief of Police, Andrew Pistorius, the airbag was deployed in the incident, and the driver refused medical treatment. No further information is available at this time.
