State’s Attorney Tracy Weaver and Booth’s public defender Marvin Hanson agreed to 9:30 a.m. September 24 for a hearing on limine motions. The motions set limits on the amount of information allowed to be introduced at the trial. Read More

Secretary of State Jesse White, in cooperation with Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library in Sullivan is offering drivers a chance to renew their driver’s license or vehicle registration renewal sticker, obtain a duplicate or corrected license, or obtain an Illinois identification card. White’s mobile unit will be available at the Sullivan library, located at 2 West Water in Sullivan 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. July 18. Read More

Lexie Caraway, Sarah Bush Lincoln Respiratory Therapy manager was selected as a recipient of the 2019 I SEE YOU CARE Award presented by Advanced ICU Care, the nation’s leading provider of high-acuity telemedicine services.
Now in its fourth year, the recognition highlights outstanding collaboration between on-premise care staff and Advanced ICU Care’s intensivist-led remote critical care team – to the end of providing the gold standard of care to the hospital’s most critically-ill patient population. VBS Students Prepare

Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2 was Vacation Bible School for St Columcille Catholic and Immaculate Conception Church students.
All students involved with VBS performed two patriotic songs at the beginning of the 4 p.m. Saturday Mass. A Forever Grateful banner was made with hand prints of VBS students. This banner will be used during the 4th of July parade in Mattoon. VBS was held at the Immaculate Conception Christian Formation Center in Mattoon. St Columcille and Immaculate Conception students in Grades K-6 were invited to attend. Many middle school and high school students assisted in helping with younger children.
VBS was lead by Fr. John Titus, Deacon Gene Uptmor, Jeanne Gross, Jan Wetzel, Sue and Ron Auer, Sheila Record (as Mother Theodore Guerin), Jon Will, Mark Vojas, Jr. and Austin Sudkamp.
Mark and Moni Sheehan of 19th Street Dairy Queen in Mattoon provided red, white and blue treats.

Ruby N. Lowry, age 93, of Sullivan passed away at 12:48 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Mason Point in Sullivan.
A funeral service in her honor was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue in Mattoon. Pastor Ron Dickinson officiated, and the Reverend Michael Smith assisted. A committal service immediately followed at Branchside Cemetery in Gays. Read More
