Several area runners competed in the boys’ and girls’ IHSA Class 1A Cross Country Regional at Wimple Park in Tuscola Saturday.
One team and one individual advanced to the St. Teresa Sectional meet in Decatur this Saturday.
For the boys’ meet, the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond team advanced to the St. Teresa Sectional meet in Decatur this Saturday.
ALAH placed seventh with a score of 187. Urbana won the meet with a score of 54. All other teams in-between also advanced including Monticello, St. Joseph-Ogden, Tolono Unity, Tuscola and Champaign St. Thomas More.
For the Knights, sophomore Layton Hall placed fourth with a time of 16:17.14, and senior Austin Romine placed 44th at 18:32.68.
Freshman Jace Green finished 46th with a time of 18:45.91, and junior Justin Miller ran an 18:51.59 for 49th place. Read More

Moultrie County Clerk Georgia England reported the public test of the Unisyn Optical Scan and Touch Screen tabulating equipment to be used for the November 6 General Election has been rescheduled to 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29 in the Elections Counting Center Room on the first floor of the Moultrie County Courthouse. in Sullivan.
The test is open to candidates, representatives of political parties, the press and the public.
Public testing of equipment was originally set for Wednesday, Oct. 24.
OV Leadership Retreat
A group of Okaw Valley students and staff attended a Leadership Retreat at Okaw Bluff on Lake Shelbyville. The leadership retreat was organized by OVHS guidance counselor Jena Atchison and involved 32 students and 10 staff members. During the retreat students talked about the schools’ strengths and weaknesses and what can be done to improve in certain areas.

Sullivan Dance Studio’s Competition Dance Team is hosting a “Kid’s BOO BASH” on Friday, October 26 from 6-8 p.m. Students only in grades Kindergarten through 4th Grade from area schools are invited to attend.
Our “Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party” will help raise funds for our dancer’s competition and costume fees. The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond volleyball team won two Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest Division matches this past week.
The Knights knocked off Okaw Valley Thursday (18th) and Arcola last Tuesday.
Against Okaw Valley, ALAH won both sets 25-22 to end the regular season and LOVC action for both teams.
For the Knights, Taylor Powell recorded 13 kills, two aces and 11 digs, and Marissa Herschberger had 20 assists and nine digs. Read More

Shop With Cop Donation
The Harbor Light Yacht Club located at Sullivan Marina and Campground held a gun raffle this summer and presented a check to the Sullivan Police department for their shop with a cop program. Steve Taylor and Gina Koenig presented the check to Officer Andy Pistorius.

The Illinois Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) teamed up with State Farm Insurance Companies to provide approximately 200 high school students training on how to be positive, effective leaders in their homes, schools and communities.
The training which was held Sunday, September 30, and Monday, October 1 at the Northfield Inn/ Conference Center in Springfield emphasized leadership skills, community service and the State Farm teen safe driving campaign. VFW Donates to Peace Meal
Sullivan VFW donates to the 2018 Sarah Bush Lincoln Peace Meal program. This donation will feed 25 people in Moultrie County in need for one year.
