The Sullivan Blue Dolphins will hold their swim team tryouts on Tuesday, August 19th at 5:00 p.m. at the Sullivan Civic Center. Session runs from August 2025 through mid-July 2026. The annual registration fee is $100.00; membership cost varies by practice group. Practices are held 2-5 times per week, based on practice group. Ages are five to eighteen. Remember to bring your suit and towel.

“We have kids on the team from Decatur, Effingham, Arthur, Atwood, Lovington, Shelbyville, Findlay, Bethany, Mattoon, and Charleston as well as Sullivan; basically about a 60-mile radius that covers Central Illinois, but anyone can participate - it depends on how far the parents want to drive,” said Coach Drury. 

Team members must have no fear of water at differing depths, follow instructions, wear goggles, be able to put their face into the water and blow air out, and complete a forward somersault into the pool. Those eleven and under must be able to swim the length of the pool in under one minute, and those twelve and older must be able to swim the length of the pool in under forty-five seconds. A parent or guardian must be present at tryouts.
