SBL to Hold Health Screens

SBL Lincolnland Home Care and Lincolnland Hospice will conduct a free blood pressure clinic from 8:30 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Senior Center, Sullivan. For more information, call Lincolnland Home Care at 1-800-879-3212.

SBL Lincolnland Home Care, Lincolnland Hospice and Lincolnland Home Medical will sponsor bingo from 9 – 10 a.m. following the blood pressure clinic. please note: If the schools are closed due to adverse weather, the senior center will also be closed.

First Baptist Christmas Eve

First Baptist Church of Sullivan is inviting everyone to the Christmas Eve service Monday, Dec. 24.

A musical prelude begins at 6 p.m. with service from 6:30 -7:30 p.m.

During December the church choir will present “O Little Town of Bethlehem” cantata featuring solos by choir members. The church hymnal contains 78 songs and hymns about the birth of Jesus, and the musicians are including most in church services during December.

Regular church services are 10-11 a.m. Sundays, and everyone is invited to share the music and beautiful decorations of the Christmas season.

The church is handicap accessible by entering the west door to access the elevator, wheel chairs and walkers.

It is located two blocks east of the Sullivan Square at 215 E. Harrison St. The church  website is www.fbc61951.org and contains a virtual tour of the church interior and December service information.

Lovington Live Nativity

The Lovington First Church of God will present a live walk through nativity experience “O Come let us Adore Him” 5-7 p.m. Saturday, December 16 in the Family Life Center located at 305 West State Street in Lovington.

Come share the true meaning of Christmas, featuring character portrayals and a stable full of live animals. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available, and kids may make a Christmas keepsake.

New this year will be the live reading of the gospel nativity story by pastors of Lovington area churches.

The event is a free gift to the community from the Lovington First Church of God.

ALAH FFA Canned Food Drive

To gain entry to the ALAH basketball games on December 14th and 15th canned food is the ticket.

The ALAH FFA is sponsoring the annual canned food drive during the week of December 11th-15th to benefit all the communities of the Arthur #305 school district.

Students are encouraged to bring in canned food items before school by 8:00 am and after school until 3:45 pm. The food drive is also being extended to the local communities as well.

This year’s goal is for students to bring in at least 1500 cans during the week with an overall total goal of 2000 cans collected.

In order to help achieve this goal, to gain admission to the girls’ basketball game in Lovington on December 14th and the boys’ basketball game on December 15th, the public is encouraged to bring at least two canned goods for children/students and three canned goods for adults. Please help us replenish the local food pantries this year during the season of giving!

Bethany Community Choir Performs

The Bethany community choir will perform a Christmas Cantata at 7 p.m. Sunday, December 10 in St. Isidore Catholic Church in rural Bethany.

The choir, directed by Pastor Ted Hartley of the United Methodist Church, includes singers from each church in the community. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the program.

SHS Honor Society Serves

Sullivan High School National Honor Society will hold its annual holiday dinner Sunday, December 17.

The dinner is open to the public at no cost. It will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the Sullivan High School Commons.

NHS members will serve this catered dinner to all in attendance.

Ninth Annual Live Nativity

The Sullivan Church of God’s ninth annual Live Nativity is 6:30 and 7: 30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 and Sat. Dec. 9.

The Live Nativity is a full production and reenactment of the story of the birth of Jesus. The shows last for 30 minutes, and admission is free.
