Moultrie County Monthly Quarter Madness will hold its July Quarter Auction on Wednesday, July 9th at the Sullivan American Legion Post #68. The organization of the month is the Lovington Volunteer Fire Department. This group is made up of men and women who volunteer their time to help the community. The fire department donates to local organizations and schools. Their volunteers work hard to support and keep the community safe anytime, day or night.

At the July Quarter Madness, vendors could include: Pampered Chef, Allie’s Gift & Garden, Tastefully Simple, Color Street, Jordan Essentials, Plunder, Avon, Scentsy, JBloom Jewelry plus different craft and food vendors with tumblers, t-shirts, wreaths, earrings, wind spinners, potholders, signs, garden stakes, décor, freeze dried candies, frozen meat bundles and more. Come shop the vendors and stay for the Quarter Auction. Bring your quarters for charity items and extra bidding. All-In-Paddle will be $20. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the Quarter Auction begins at 6:30 p.m. All ages are welcome to attend. A Bake Sale also benefits the IL FCCLA Foundation and will have goodies for purchase. Highway Heartburn will be in the parking lot with food available for purchase. Drink purchases can be made through the Legion as well. The parade will begin at 12:00 p.m. (begins at SHS). Food and lemonade trucks as well as Xtreme inflatables, including rock wall, zip line, Xtreme air, slide, 3 piece obstacle course, wrecking ball, and a toddler zone, will be in the American Legion parking lot from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wrist bands for the inflatables will be $30.00. Park games: at approximately 2:00 p.m. in Wyman Park, there will be turtle races, a watermelon eating contest, and sack races. The fireworks show begins at dusk.

Beginning June 27th, every last Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., the Allenville Community Building (just behind the church, 2 blocks from 121 Hwy.) will have free live music and dancing available for the public to come out and enjoy. This alcohol, drug, and smoke-free event is family-friendly. The performers, Rob and the Rebels, take music requests when they can. The above festivities can also be enjoyed on the second Friday of every month at the old church with the red roof (one block north on Main St.) in Findlay.

Smyser Christian Church will conduct their Vacation Bible School (VBS) June 29th through July 2nd, from 6:00 to 8:20 p.m., at 1521 Whitley Point Road in Gays.

Come to make new friends, perform experiments, play games, enjoy snacks, go on surprise adventures and enjoy music.

The Moultrie County Health Department, in conjunction with The Haven of Care & Dementia Friendly Moultrie County, will be holding a “Dementia Friends” training session for caregivers of persons living with Dementia and interested community members on June 25th, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This training will take place at the Otto Center, 2058 N CR 1800 E in Arthur. Training will help participants learn the symptoms of dementia and how to best communicate with a person living with dementia, as well as support their caregiver(s). Refreshments will be served, and there is no charge for this event.
