Annual Meeting with Township Assessors Jan. 7

As required by Section 200/9-15 of the Property Tax Code, Moultrie County Chief County Assessment Officer Cindy Kidwell advises that she hold her annual meeting with the Moultrie County township and multi-township assessors at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 7 in the Moultrie County Board Room located on the second floor of the Moultrie County Courthouse in Sullivan. The purpose of this meeting is to consult with and instruct the assessors in the uniformity of their functions.  The meeting is open to the public.

Blanket Donations Badly Needed in Findlay

The Findlay based group which calls themselves the Bag Ladies is in severe need of blankets.

The group, which has been active approximately 13 years, takes cloth and blanket donations and, in turn, creates sleeping bags for the impoverished. The group says that currently they are out of blankets, and as a result, in severe need of donations.

To donate a blanket, the public may drop their items off at the United Methodist Church in Findlay at anytime.

County Historical Society to Close Dec. 22 Through New Year

The Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society will not have a December or January monthly meeting but will begin the monthly meetings in February. The Heritage Center will close for the holidays at 3 p.m. Monday, December 22 and open at noon Saturday January 3, 2015.

Secretary of State Offices to Close for Christmas Holiday

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced that all offices and driver services facilities will be closed on Wednesday, December 24 and Thursday, December 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday.

All driver services facilities will reopen for regular business Friday, December 26.

Individuals may visit the Secretary of State’s website, www.cyberdriveillinois.com, to locate the nearest driver services facility and the hours of operation. In addition, drivers may use the website to change an address, register to become an organ and tissue donor or renew license plate stickers.

NP to Print Early Next Week

Helmeth receives Amtryke

River Helmeth received an Amtryke from the Sullivan AMBUCS at their fundraising cookout last Saturday, May 9th, in the Kirby Foods parking lot. River rode her new Amtryke for the first time like a pro as her mom Stephanie, looked on. With a big smile and look of determination, River showed everyone how well she could ride.
