Monthly Quarter Madness

Moultrie County Monthly Quarter Madness will have their June Quarter Auction on Wednesday, June 14 at the Sullivan American Legion. The charity of the month is the Sullivan Okaw Valley Junior Football League (SOV JFL). The JFL program teaches fundamentals of football for younger kids preparing them for the transition to the high school program. There is also flag football which gives kids as young as kindergarten the opportunity to play. This year funds are being raised to purchase new helmets to replace the ones that have expired and can no longer be used. At the June Quarter Madness, vendors could include: direct sales such as Avon, Scentsy, JBloom Jewelry, Thirty-One,Tastefully Simple, Paper Pe (formerly Usborne Books), Plunder Jewelry, Pampered Chef, plus different craft vendors, hair bows, pet products, laser engraved designs, and more. Come shop the vendors and stay for the Quarter Auction. Bring your quarters for charity items and extra bidding. All-In-Paddle will be $20. Doors open at 6:00 and the Quarter Auction begins at 6:30. All ages are welcome to attend. Food will be available for purchase through Highway Heartburn Food Truck in the Legion Parking Lot. Drink purchases can be made through the Legion. Electronics Recycling Event

The City of Sullivan will have an electronic recycling event on Saturday, June 24 from 8:00 and until 11:00 am or until the trailer capacity is reached. The event will be located at Wyman Park parking lot south of Wyman Lake. No wood or projection tvs will be accepted. The event is strictly limited to citizens residing within the city limits of Sullivan and those Sullivan area residents who receive their electric, gas or water service from the city. Those bringing items for drop off will be required to provide identification proving their residency or a copy of a recent utility bill issued by the city. No exceptions to this policy will be made. City police officers will be present to check ID’s. Each household shall be limited to a total of 10 items none of which may weigh more than 75 pounds. More information on what electronics will be accepted can be found on information that went out with utility bills and on the city’s Facebook page: City of Sullivan, Illinois.

St Jude Dash and Bash Car Show

The Sullivan Street Machines will be putting on the St. Jude Dash and Bash car show on Saturday, June 10 at 11 am at Wyman Park in Sullivan. Registration is at 10 am with the show going from 11 am to 1:30 pm and awards at 2:30 pm. There is a $10 entry fee. All vehicles are welcome.

Correction for County Board Article

The Sale in Error fee is recorded when a property is sold for delinquent taxes and every parcel sold pays that fee. There are 70-80 parcels sold per year, but there are only 4-6 per year that try to claim a Sale in Error.

Concert

Avenue Trio from Nashville will be in concert on Saturday, June 10 at 6 pm at Allenville Christian Church, 201 Allen Street in Allenville. The concert is free, however a love offering will be collected. There will be finger food fellowship following the concert.

Lash Named to Honor Roll

Colten Lash of Bethany has been named to the Honor Roll at Bethel University. To qualify for the Honor Roll, undergraduates must have completed 12 or more hours of academic coursework in the College of Arts and Sciences with a grade point average of 3.7 or above and no grade lower than a C.

Storm leaves damage in its wake

The storm that occurred in the evening hours of June 11th produced wind gusts of up to 70 mph left many locals without power, with many experiencing damage to property ranging from mild to extreme.
