Arthur-Atwood Lions Club to Sponsor ITPA Tractor Pull

ITPA Tractor and Truck Pull will be held on Friday, August 12, at the fairgrounds in Arthur. The pull will begin at 6:00 p.m. CDT with Classics, 6,850 Pro Farm, Pro Stock Diesel trucks, 9,500 Limited Pro Stock, Pro Stock, and 11,000 Pro Farm. This will be a great combination of noise, smoke, and dust! With the tractor pulls at the Illinois State Fair cancelled for this year and the recent rainout of the pull during the fair, a large crowd is expected. The Arthur – Atwood Lions Club is proud to sponsor the event and will be serving food and drinks. Admission is $15.00 per person for anyone 13 and older. 12 and under are free. Free parking on the grounds. Handicap parking available. Funds raised from the event assist Lions to serve the Arthur, Atwood, Lovington, and Hammond communities to improve health and well-being, strengthen and support those in need through humanitarian services.

25 Years Ago This Week

A 100-year-old two story house traveling from Lovington to Bethany slowed traffic on Routes 32 and 121. Dick and Tonya Bone were the proud owners of the white two story house that used to occupy land on the farm owned by Don Hamblin of Lovington. The new location of the house was just east of Bethany off Rt. 121.
The third annual Bethany Academic Foundation Golf Outing raised $5,000 for technology for the Bethany school district--$500 more than the previous year. Read More

Southern Gospel Concert

There will be a southern gospel concert featuring Riven from St. Louis on Saturday, July 31 at 6 pm at the Allenville Christian Church. There will be a love offering and refreshments will follow the concert.

Bingo at Sullivan American Legion

The Sullivan Singers Boosters have bingo at the Sullivan American Legion every Thursday. Doors open at 5 pm with early bird games beginning at 5:40 pm. Regular bingo play begins at 6 pm. Food available for purchase from the Women’s Auxiliary.

Community Blood Drive

There will be a community blood drive on Wednesday, August 10 from 3 to 7 pm at 1533 CR 1900N, Cadwell, inside a donor bus that will be parked at M&E Woodcrafts. Relief Sale Ice Cream Social

The Arthur Mennonite Relief Sale’s annual ice cream social will be held at Arthur Community Building on Monday, August 1 from 5-8 p.m. Pulled pork BBQ sandwiches and chips will be offered along with cake and homemade ice cream. Donations will be accepted, and the funds raised will be used to cover pre-sale expenses such as advertising, paper goods, etc. Come as you are.

Mobile Food Pantry

A mobile food pantry will be held on Wednesday, August 10 from 4-5 pm at Windsor Grade School. The mobile food pantry is being held in partnership with Decatur Catholic Charities and Windsor School District. A mobile food pantry delivers a 2 week supply of food per family in rural communities. Any individual or family that does not have a steady food supply qualifies to receive food. No financial information is required to qualify. This distribution is open to all, not only residents of Windsor. To sign up call 217-774-9546 Monday-Friday between 8 am and Noon and 1 pm and 4:30 pm by Wednesday, August 3. Once your form is completed by phone, you will be given a number to bring with you on the day of distribution. If you lose your number, you need to bring identification. The food will be distributed by household size on August 10 from 4 pm to 5 pm at the Windsor Grade School cafeteria.

MC History Center Library
