Story times: Every Wednesday, Feb 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th at 10:00 a.m. The bounce house will be available after the story and craft. 

Every Monday at 9:00 a.m., we host a Memory Café. This is a social gathering for individuals with dementia and their caregivers. Get helpful information and support from others who also have loved ones who struggle with memory loss. 

February 5th and 19th: Homeschoolers: If you have a homeschooled student, check out the class we have. It meets twice a month on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. The group will explore fun, hands-on STEAM activities designed to inspire creativity and critical thinking. Crochet Group: Tuesdays, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Join fellow crafters to learn new stitches and patterns in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Beginners and experienced crochet artists are welcome. Those interested in learning how to crochet should contact Michelle or Laura in advance.

February 9, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Make Your Own Valentine. Need a Valentine’s card? Use our materials to create a handmade card for teachers, parents, or grandparents. Homemade gifts are always a hit! Bring your creativity—we’ll provide the supplies and handle the cleanup.  

Feb 2nd and 16th after school at 3:45 p.m. Crafty Crew: This group has fun creating new crafty things. If you’re interested, you can sign up online at www.sullivanlibrary.org or give us a call, or come in to the library.

The City of Sullivan and the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association (IMUA) have announced the 2026 IMUA Scholarship for local high school seniors. What is available are four scholarships worth $1,000 each. The eligibility requirement is that applicants must be high school seniors in communities served by IMUA member utilities. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 13th. To apply, submit an application and a short essay (500 words or fewer) on one of four utility-related topics. The Arthur School District and the Project HELP Preschool program will be offering free developmental screening to provide parents with an opportunity to discover how their child is developing in the areas of speech, language, concepts, and motor skills. Vision and hearing screenings will also be offered, free of charge. It’s time to think about Pre-school and Kindergarten for the upcoming school year for your child. To find out what preschool options are available in your community or to pre-register your child for kindergarten, schedule an appointment to have your child screened.

This screening will take place on Friday, April 10th, at the Lovington United Methodist Church, 241 South Broadway Street in Lovington. For an appointment, call Tiffany Reedy at (217) 873-4318. Signed parent or guardian permission is required. Screenings are required for potential enrollment in the Project HELP preschool program. To pre-register your child for kindergarten, bring a certified copy of their birth certificate, a physical with immunization records, dental and vision exams will also be accepted, if available.

The Empower Academy Competition Team, parents, and the 5678 Booster Club will be hosting a music bingo fundraiser on Saturday, January 10, at Willow Ridge Winery. With help from the Prairie Fire DJ Service, the event will start at 6:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from participating dance team parents. The event is 18 years of age and over only.
