Preschool Roundup in Arthur

Arthur CUSD 305 Vaccine Clinic

The State of Illinois is partnering with Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School to bring a free vaccine clinic to the area on February 15 from 4 to 7 pm at Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School, 301 E. Columbia St. in Arthur. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is authorized and recommended for persons 5 years of age and older. Appointments can be scheduled online at the Arthur CUSD website www.cusd305.org.

Agri-Fab to host Blood Drive

Agri-Fab will host a community blood drive on Friday, February 18 from 9 am to 2 pm at 809 S. Hamilton St, Sullivan inside the meeting room. To donate, contact Taylor Rothrock at (217) 728-8388 ext. 207 or visit www.bloodcenter.org and use code 71025 to locate the drive. Scheduling can also be done by calling ImpactLife to schedule at 800-747-5401. Masks and appointments are required. Donors who last gave blood on or before 12/24/21 are eligible to give at this drive.

Cadwell Blood Drive

A community blood drive will be held on Tuesday, February 15 from 3 to 7 pm at 1533 CR 1900N, inside a donor bus that will be parked by M&E Woodcrafts in Cadwell. To donate, please contact ImpactLife Urbana at (800) 747-5401 or visit www.bloodcenter.org and use code 70636 to locate the drive. Donors who last gave blood on or before 12/21/21 are eligible to give at this drive. Masks and appointments are required. A photo id is required to donate.

Auxiliary Wine Expo/Vendor Fair

The Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary is hosting their annual Wine Expo/Vendor Fair on Sunday Feb. 13th from 1-4pm at the legion hall. This is the 9th year for this event as fundraiser.
Three wineries in attendance that day that will offer wine tasting.There will also be a variety of vendors that will be set up that day with cash and carry items available. Food prepared by the S.A.L. will be available for purchase.
Entrance fee is $5 which includes wine tasting.

Sheila Benton Rader Benefit

There will be a soup and sandwich benefit for Sheila Benton Rader on February 26 from 11 am to 6 pm at the Lovington Fire Department. Sheila has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Throat Cancer. She has been employed with Agri-Fab for 17 years and is a long-time resident of Lovington. All proceeds will go towards medical expenses. Food served will be chili and vegetable soup along with cold cut sandwiches, tea, lemonade and water. There will be 50/50 throughout the day and meat board raffles as well as a silent auction and bake sale. If you wish to donate an item for the silent auction contact Pam Anklam at 201-0662 or Tina Webb at 521-2514. If you wish to donate baked goods contact Martina Emrick at 413-0371 or Tina Webb at 521-2514. There is a facebook event with a link to go fund me if you wish to donate and cannot attend.

Post Prom Seeking Donations

Sullivan High School Post Prom is Saturday, April 23, at the Sullivan Elementary School from 11:00pm-4:00am and parents of Class of 2023 are in the process of organizing activities. Post Prom is open to all eligible Prom students whether they attend or not. Post Prom committee is asking for monetary donations, gift cards or gift certificates or products from local businesses to be used for activities and prizes at the event. Layni Boyer, Certificate-Cosmetology;Colin Ernst, Associates in Applied Science-Management, Certificate-Management, Certificate-Marketing, Certificate-Business Development, Certificate-Professional Sales; Michael Gingerich, Associate in Applied Science, Mechanical-Electrical Technology and Certificate-Programmable Logic Controllers; Caleb Lane, Certificate-IT Programming; John Sentel, Associate in Science-Liberal Arts; Madison Wall, Associate in Applied Science-Associate Degree Nurse; Tiffany Wallis, Associate in Science-Bioscience Non-Teaching, all from Sullivan. Scholarship Applications being Accepted

The Moultrie County Farm Bureau has announced that applications are available for the Charles B. Shuman Memorial Scholarship. The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a resident of Moultrie County who is a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled in a University or Community College. The successful applicant should be of good moral character and exhibit potential for successful completion of a course of study in agriculture or related fields. In addition to academic performance, extra curricular and community involvement will also be considered in the selection process.
Applications for the scholarship may be obtained from the Moultrie County Farm Bureau office at 1102 W. Jackson St. in Sullivan or by calling the office at 217-728-4214. The application deadline is March 18, 2022.
The Charles B. Shuman Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 by the Moultrie County Farm Bureau to honor the achievements and life of a Moultrie County farmer and Farm Bureau leader. Mr. Shuman served as President of the Moultrie County Farm Bureau from 1936-1945, and President of the Illinois Farm Bureau from 1945-1954. In 1954, he was elected as President of the two million members American Farm Bureau Federation and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1970. He passed away in October 1999 at the age of 92.

Thies Named to Dean’s List

Chase Thies of Windsor has been named to the Knox College Dean’s List of distinguished students for the 2021 Fall Term. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have earned at least 2.5 credits in the term, with a grade point average of 3.6 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
