Buster Brown day was Wednesday, August 24, 1910, in Bethany. It was sponsored by the Redman and Dupree store. Buster and his dog Tige were the rage back then. They performed at 4:00. August 4, 1913, the Jonathan Creek Church held their annual clean up day. At that time the church was located on the west side of the road where the cemetery was and is located. In June 1976, Sullivan hosted the Lake Festival. One of the programs was “Almost Anything Goes’ that was to mimic a popular TV show called “Anything Goes.” This photo is of the participants. Sitting on the two ladders are: Bob Lemler & Betty Wilson. Standing on the ladders are: unknown and Mimi Atchison. On the bicycle is our current mayor: Richard Glazebrook. News Progress


Sullivan High School student Claire Kursell recently participated in the Central Illinois High School Art Exhibition at Millikin University. She received an honorable mention for her piece, “Bride of Frankenstein”.
