Pictured above is the Lovington Cigar Factory circa 1900. It was located on the empty space in front of the car wash on State St. Lawrence Lorenson is the man in the suit coat behind the counter. The other two men behind the counter are probably Benjamin Alexander, cigar maker and Wilbur Ingle, clerk. Men in front are unknown. The current Bethany Cumberland Presbyterian Church was dedicated on Dec. 17, 1911 with the Rev. L.T. Coleman as pastor. This photo postcard was taken around 1915. Sullivan High School student Claire Kursell recently participated in the Central Illinois High School Art Exhibition at Millikin University. She received an honorable mention for her piece, “Bride of Frankenstein”.
