Vote by Mail: If you would rather hand-deliver the ballot, follow all instructions as if placing in the mail; however, you may place the ballot in the Ballot Drop Box located outside on the corner of South Main St. and East Harrison St. next to the Post Office Drop Box and the City Utility Drop Box on the square. If you prefer, you can also hand deliver your ballot to the County Clerk’s office on the second floor of the Courthouse.

An open house celebration of the Sullivan Fire Protection District’s 40th anniversary was held. 600 people attended the weekend event.
Robert Hess was named to the Sullivan High School Who’s Who during the Sullivan Alumni Banquet. Seth Dunscomb was named to the Sullivan High School Hall of Fame. The award was presented to Dunscomb’s family. Read More

Nutrition and Wellness Educator - U of I Extension
The Illinois Deer Donation Program launched with the start of deer archery hunting season on October 1. At this time and through deer hunting season, hunters can bring harvested deer to one of five partnering meat processors for donation.
Hunters do not have to pay the processing fee for donated deer, though processors ask that you call before going hunting to make sure they have space available. Read More

The Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation (IRTAF) awards $36,500 in grant money to several public school educators (Pre-K through 12) statewide. IRTAF is affiliated with the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, a lobbying group for retired educators, with a current membership of over 40,000. On September 20, 2022, Patricia King was awarded her IRTAF grant check. Read More

Mary Hutchings and Marlene Wirth, both of Sullivan, attended the 77th Effingham/Shelby Zone Fall Rally of the LWML, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Louisville, Illinois on September 21, 2022. The theme for the day was, “Light up the Word with Christ. Reverend Stephen Rutherford of the host church led the opening service and Reverend Martin Eden, pastor from Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Quincy, Illinois, was the keynote speaker.
In 2020, Reverend Eden began corresponding with Reverend Peter Maganda who is the Dean of the Seminary in the Eastern Deanery for the Lutheran Church of Uganda. Area mission monies have since helped with food supplies for the people of this very poor eastern African nation. Local mission monies also helped to purchase two motorcycles so the vicars can travel to remote villages. Also, money has come to them to purchase six acres of land in Uganda to build a Lutheran church and a boarding school with dormitories. Read More

Lakeview College of Nursing recently held a White Coat Ceremony to recognize students who achieved the transition into clinical practice within their bachelor’s degree nursing program. Area students who were honored include the following:
Dakota Clayton of Sullivan. Clayton attends the College’s Charleston Campus and Zachary Lensink of Mattoon. Lensink attends the College’s Charleston Campus.
About 25 Lakeview students participated in the recently held event at the Paris Fine Arts Center in Paris, IL. Read More
