The Bethany Townwide Rummage Sale will be held May 20 and 21. Over 25 sales have been confirmed as well as the First Christian Church handing out free sandwiches, baked goods and bottled water both days while supplies last.

Mobile Food Pantry

The University of Illinois Extension in cooperating partnership with Decatur Catholic Charities and Windsor School District will have a mobile food pantry on Wednesday, June 8 from 4 to 5 pm at Windsor Grade School. A mobile food pantry delivers a 2 week supply of food per family in rural communities. Any individual or family that does not have a steady food supply qualifies to receive food. No financial information is required to qualify. This distribution is open to all, not only residents of Windsor. Sign up must be completed by June 1 by calling 217-774-9546 Monday through Friday from 8 am to Noon. Once your form is completed by phone, you will be given a number to bring with you on the day of distribution. If you lose your number, you need to bring identification. The food will be distributed according to household size on June 8 from 4 pm to 5 pm at the Windsor Grade School cafeteria.
Letter Carriers’ Annual Food Drive

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its annual national food drive on Saturday, May 14. NALC’s food drive, which was first held in 1983, helps feed millions of Americans.
The Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive, the country’s largest one-day food drive, provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need.
Customers simply leave their donation of non-perishable food items next to their mailbox before the delivery of the mail on Saturday, May 14. Letter carriers will collect these food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes, and distribute them to local food banks, pantries, shelters and churches. Read More

Sullivan Middle School eighth grader Mae Dawkins was honored on Monday, May 2 at the Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition Breakfast in Springfield at the Wyndham Hotel. Mae was nominated by Mr. Ogle and the faculty of Sullivan Middle School for her outstanding character and leadership. Mae was joined at the event by Mr. Ogle and her mother, Alice Dawkins.

The Illinois Amish Heritage Center will host it’s third annual Sheep to Clothing to Quilts event on Saturday, May 14th (with a rain date of May 21st) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be a $5.00 admission fee.
The event will again feature activities to show how clothing and quilts were made in 19th century and before. Even though woolen mills were making wool cloth by the 1860s, many families still spun their own thread and wove their own cloth. Worn out clothing was turned into quilts. Read More

The map includes route updates as well as a new feature that shows mileage between towns and marked route junctions to help residents and visitors alike plan their travels throughout Illinois. Millikin University President Emeritus Dr. Patrick E. White to deliver May 2022 Commencement Address

Millikin University will celebrate the Class of 2022 with two in-person commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 22, at Kirkland Fine Arts Center on Millikin’s campus. Undergraduate and graduate degree programs will be honored during the ceremonies.
Graduating students will be allowed up to six guests at the ceremony. Millikin community members unable to attend the ceremony in person will be able to watch the ceremony through a public live stream on Millikin’s flagship Facebook page and commencement site.
Millikin graduates in the College of Fine Arts and the College of Professional Studies will participate in the first ceremony at 10 a.m. on May 22. Doors will open at 9 a.m. Read More
