OV Elementary 4th Grade Student Spotlight
Name: Ethan King
Parents: Katie Miller and James King
Favorite things are Monical’s pepperoni pizza; also, apples, playing Mindcraft, watching Transformers and riding my bike with friends.
I like Okaw Valley because we have cool buckets to sit on. Learning math is a lot of fun. Our room has a sink to clean up after cool projects like crafts, painting or shaving cream. We also have new water fountains.

SES Gold Slip Awards
Sullivan Elementary School awards “Gold Slips” to students who go above and beyond expectations.  The Gold Slip winners for the month of January (from left to right):
Dylan Ray took the time to pick up hoola hoops that had fallen off the wall during recess while other students walked past them.
Gavin Helmuth was the only fifth grader to stop and pick up a pair of gloves that someone dropped. He stopped, picked them up, and attempted to find the owner.
Kya Allen finished her math assignment early and rather than have free time on her iPad, she asked whether she could help a couple of her classmates who were struggling.
Aubrey Martin noticed the incentives for the RESPECT board drawing were getting very low. She bought suckers with her own money so other kids would have a treat for being respectful.
Christopher Henry is always helping and looking after another student during P.E.

Poppies to honor those who gave all

News Progress

On Friday, May 22nd, Ruth Keown, Vice-President of the Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary Unit 68, greeted the public at the entrance to the local Post Office, distributing Memorial Poppies. Each year, millions of Americans wear these Memorial Poppies in memory of American service members who lost their lives in war while serving their country, and to assist those Veterans who are now hospitalized or in rehabilitation, suffering from wounds and illnesses. Memorial Day poppies distributed by the American Legion symbolize the ultimate sacrifice made by service members and are a tribute to those who lost their lives in war. Wearing the poppy is a way to honor the fallen and ensure their bravery is never forgotten.
