Technology has improved access to health information, but the spread of misinformation online poses serious risks. To address this, researchers, educators, and communities must work together to ensure people get accurate, evidence-based guidance.
The University of Illinois, along with the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute, and in collaboration with Illinois Extension, has developed the Summer Self-Care 2025 webinar series. This series is part of the Community Seminar Series, and it provides an opportunity for the community to learn about current health research, find reliable sources of health information, and engage in direct dialogue with U of I researchers.

Katilyn Kirby, a graduate of Sullivan High School, was awarded the 2025 Illinois Municipal Utilities Association (IMUA) Scholarship on Monday, June 23rd, at the regular meeting of the City of Sullivan Council. Kirby is one of 70 seniors who applied and submitted an essay in hopes of winning this year’s award of $2,500.

The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) is reminding taxpayers who missed the April 15, 2025, income tax filing deadline that it is not too late to file and that prompt action can help minimize penalties and interest if a balance is owed. “While the filing deadline has passed, the longer you wait, the more it could potentially cost you due to penalties and interest,” explained IDOR Director David Harris. “Whether you owe money or are due a refund, it is important to get your return filed and take that first step.”

We had no map showing the route of the Charleston Road from Moultrie to Paris, Illinois, when we took our family hike in the 1980s, but, except for a few anxious moments in the poison ivy and blackberry vines at Nelson Ford, we knew the way to go. Some of the old trail has been moved to follow section lines, but most of the meandering old trail used by ancient hunting parties and hordes of pioneer immigrants, including the Lincolns in 1830, can still be followed.

The events will serve as one-stop shops for students to enroll at the college, register for classes, and apply for scholarships.
