Teacher of the Year

Mo-Co 12U Champs
The Mo-Co Rush 12U recently competed in the Santa Claus Classic in Santa Claus, Ind. and went 5-0 to win the championship. The 12U Rush currently stands at 46-20 on the season. Kinney Recognized
Pictured are Senator Chapin Rose with outgoing Douglas and Moultrie County Farm Bureau Manager Kara Kinney. Senator Rose attended the open house at the Douglas County Farm Bureau June 5 and presented Kinney with a certificate of Senate Recognition from the state of Illinois in recognition of her years of dedication and service as manager for the Moultrie and Douglas County Farm Bureaus.

All-Star Football
Griffin Sullivan (right) and Garrett Cuffle (left) joined several area 2014 seniors to play in the Order of the Eastern Star All Star football game on Saturday in Maroa. The West beat the East 27-24. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond’s Logan West was also on the East team.

The Sullivan baseball team held their awards’ banquet May 22. Hydro-Gear’s United Way Campaign
With nearly a $10,000 increase, Hydro-Gear employees came together making their recent United Way campaign a big success. Employee and corporate campaigns are exceedingly beneficial to agencies that have partnerships with United Way. The Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Red Cross, RSVP and Peace Meals, for example, will receive funding assistance through the Moultrie County United Way’s Fund Distribution. Poe Takes First
Amber Poe, 13, of Sullivan, recently earned first place in the district XMA martial arts competition in Lambard, Ill. She also took third place in weapons-kamas and faced competition from across several states. Poe is the daughter of Don and Rhonda Poe and the grandaughter of Bob and Donie Rennels, also of Sullivan. Poe is a part of the American Taekwondo Association and is a recommended black belt.
