Photo by RR Best Newest NP Staffer Being the first newborn granddaughter of a newspaper has its privileges, such as getting a little attention. NP designer Rachael VanLoon gave birth to 7 lb, 2 oz Presley Marie VanLoon on July 24 at 4:28 a.m. and is the granddaughter of NP publisher Robert Best.

Being the first newborn of a newspaper family has its privileges, such as getting a little attention. NP designer Rachael VanLoon gave birth to 7 lb, 2 oz Presley Marie VanLoon on July 24 at 4:28 a.m. who is the granddaughter of NP publisher Robert Best. She is also the niece of managing editor Keith Stewart, the granddaughter of NP designer Cathleen Fritz, and the great-niece of NP co-owner Kathy Best.

Emmett Sefton Memorial Drive

Photo by RR Best Emmett Sefton Memorial Drive Dozens of antique tractors were downtown in Dalton City Sunday morning as part of the inaugural Emmett Sefton Memorial Drive, which began in Mt. Zion and traveled to Dalton City before returning to its starting location. Sefton was an active farmer dedicated to agriculture and a past Macon County Farm Bureau Board president, foundation trustee, and sat on several committees over the years. The drive was sponsored by the Macon County Farm Bureau Foundation and raised money for the Emmett Sefton Memorial Scholarship Fund. Nearly 40 individuals participated.

Dallmier Returns to Sullivan Family Care

Submitted Dallmier Returns to Sullivan Family Care Dr. Glen Dust (left) and Dr. Faisal Bukhari (right) of Sullivan Family Care are welcoming Shirley Dallmier, P.A-C (center) to the active medical staff. Dallmier began practicing July 15 and is actively accepting new patients.  Dallmier graduated from St. Louis University and went on to obtain her master’s degree from the University of Nebraska. After practicing for 12 years in Sullivan, she continued working in internal medicine and family practice in Mt. Vernon. Returning home, Dallmier is anxious to reestablish providing family care in Sullivan. Call Sullivan Family Care at 217-728-7353 to schedule an appointment or request a new patient screening if not an established patient.

Waller Completes Residency

Submitted Waller Completes Residency Christine J. Waller, M.D. completed her residency in General Surgery on June 20, 2014.  During her time at University of Iowa, she also completed a fellowship in Critical Care and was a winner of the 2013 Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award in Surgery.  During her final year of residency, she was Administrative Chief Resident.  She has accepted a position with Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse, WI.  Dr. Waller, her husband Jonathan, and their daughter Leah will relocate to the area in July.  Her daughter Ashlynne Steen resides in Springfield, Ill. with her husband, Dr. Sven Steen.  Dr. Waller is the daughter of Bob and Teresa Lane of Sullivan and the late Jane Wiley.

Submitted W.H.A.T.S.’s Yard of June The WHAT group (Windsor Happenings Around Town) has chosen its June Yard of the Month: Judy Smith and her home located on the east end of Maine Street. The public is invited to nominate a home in Windsor to be judged in the Yard of the Month contest. To nominate a home, contact Linda Voris at City Hall or Marci Croy at 273-5488.  WHAT is Windsor’s mapping group that is working to beautify as well as make improvements in the community.

Storm leaves damage in its wake

The storm that occurred in the evening hours of June 11th produced wind gusts of up to 70 mph left many locals without power, with many experiencing damage to property ranging from mild to extreme.
