Photo by RR Best Lighting the Luminaria Hannah Schlieker lights luminaria before the ceremony at Friday evening’s Moultrie County Relay for Life at Sullivan High School. According to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Specialist Alicia Pettyjohn, 25 teams participated in this year’s Relay, raising $62,000, and the opening lap saw 30 survivors walk. Plans for the 2015 Relay for Life will begin forming soon. If interested in helping plan next year’s Relay, call Pettyjohn at 217-356-4861 or visit relayforlife.org/moultrieil

Photo by Keith Stewart Perfect Attendance K-5 Peyton Pool (center) was recognized at Sullivan Elementary School’s final day assembly on May 29 for having perfect attendance from kindergarten through fifth grade. With 176 days in a school year, Pool attended all 1,056. He received several gifts for his perfect feat and is seen above with his mother Keri (left) and father Darrin (right).

Storm leaves damage in its wake

The storm that occurred in the evening hours of June 11th produced wind gusts of up to 70 mph left many locals without power, with many experiencing damage to property ranging from mild to extreme.
